GOVERNANCE

RQ is committed to a program of governance reform across race clubs. A section of this reform is necessary due to recent important law changes for Incorporated Associations and the balance is aimed at improving the governance of clubs in general.

The program of governance reform will include:

  • Modernising club constitutions via:
    • Campaign promoting constitutional changes.
    • Developing a set of Model Rules that clubs can adopt or amend in lieu of their existing constitutions.
    • Providing guidance and resources to assist with amending existing constitutions.
  • Develop guidance material to improve club Authorities and Delegations.
  • Develop Internal Grievance and Dispute Resolution Policy information and templates for clubs to adopt.
  • Develop guidance material to manage Conflicts of Interest.
  • Distribute guidance material to support clubs in documenting operational and strategic risks.
  • Develop guidance to assist clubs with supporting vulnerable people, and better understanding their obligations and responsibilities as employers.
  • Develop material to assist boards and committees to improve their performance including internal performance reviews, skills matrixes for committees, and promoting diversity in the composition of committees.

Information and further resources will be made available to clubs on this page over the coming months. Be sure to keep an eye on our Club Industry Updates for links to the new material as it is published or check back here regularly.
